Many thanks to our wonderful juror, Marilyn Hughey Phillis. She is nationally known for her workshops and for jurying prestigious shows, including AWS three times, NWS, and the Georgia Watercolor Society Show. Her book, Watermedia Techniques for Releasing the Creative Spirit is very innovative and popular. She did an outstanding job.

Juror's Statement for the JWS Fall Show - November 2005 The Jacksonville Watercolor Society is blessed with artists who can use their vision, their imagination, and their accumulated skills to produce work of superior quality. The Award winners would hold up in many larger shows and surely win awards in those stiffer competitions. I appreciated the sincerity of effort evident in the works which did not make the show. Those artists are no less important in a competition. Some are truly brave to enter, as their limited experience prevents full acceptance, but also gives a hint of future success. That hint should keep them going to constantly improve their sense of design, general painting skills, and passion of feeling for their chosen image. The St. Augustine Art Center is a handsome facility to house this exhibition. The committee of many people and responsibilities has done a wonderful job of organizing this exhibition opportunity. Don't take their work or these artists for granted! It was a privilege to play a part in this fine show. ~ Marilyn Hughey Phillis, AWS/NWS
