2008 Outreach Opportunities
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE!!!
When our Outreach Team Chair relocated to California and we could not find a replacement, we decided to introduce a different format. Rather than working in specific school classes on request, sessions are being held on Saturdays at community centers and libraries, upon request by community organizations.
If you would like to volunteer to chair the Outreach Program or work with other members on requested Saturday sessions, please contact Rita Blum, VP of Education/Programs at 904-282-9704 or email her at ritablum@bellsouth.net
MISSION:
To assist teachers in our local school system in providing a well-rounded arts education. We focus on exposing children to the art and magic of watercolor and water media painting. We supply the paper, paints, brushes, and instruction.
Jacksonville Watercolor Society volunteers demonstrate and instruct in the art of watercolor for students and teachers in area schools. Students are given supplies and encouragement to create their own paintings. The children enjoy the "magic" quality of creating a watercolor, and volunteers - as often is the case - get far more out of the experience than they give. Selected student works are chosen and matted for inclusion in an exhibition show.
